THE ELEMENTARY CLASS: GRADES 1-5

*Please note: Our Elementary Class begins with 1st grade. Kindergarten is part of the Primary Class.

Our Elementary class takes students to the next level in their education with a unique curriculum that connects the past to the present and opens the door to the future. Students pursue advanced lessons in language, math, science, history, geography, and social studies. They also enjoy field trips, physical education, foreign language, music, and outdoor education. Our program provides a rich and accelerated curriculum that meets and exceeds state and local standards. We offer the complete Montessori curriculum, a highly-qualified teaching staff, and fully-equipped classrooms.

Our students develop their intellect, practice critical-thinking skills, and master abstract concepts. They can explore their passions and interests and pursue accelerated study in any area. Through individualized attention, students fulfill their need to know, learn more, and seek out the answers to big questions. Our students also learn valuable life lessons and develop important social and personal skills.

Children who turn 6 before Dec. 31 of the school year may be considered for the Elementary Class. An interview, background information, and class visit are part of the evaluation process.

A typical day in our Elementary Class looks like this:
7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. – AM Care
8:45 a.m. to 12 noon – Morning class time, with group lessons and individual work. Students focus on reading, writing, math, science, geography, culture and history.
12 noon to 1:15 p.m. – Lunch followed by outdoor play time.
1:15 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Afternoon activities include physical education, art, reading groups, and Writer’s Workshop.
Elementary School day ends at 3:00 p.m.
3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. – PM Care
